| | What role does tradition play in the life of the new believer? | Before we came to Christ, we used to belong to an earthly family with earthly siblings. Now as christians, the bible tells us that our family is bigger than what it used to be. It's the total of the believers in Christ, all of those who profess and confess Christ in their lives.
That is a huge family.
What role does tradition and custom play in our lives now?
Should we keep the old and add on the new?
Are we to take inventory of old customs and traditions and only take the ones that are based on christian values? A lot of our traditions were carnal and done and thought by men. How badly do you think that they affect your current life right now?

Depending on what we mean by 'old' and 'new', we as christians should strive to put the new cloth of christian life designed and ardorned with the love of all. Again and however our new looks presents, we would continue to have traits of the old because there are some part of the old that are indispenable to the new. |

Tradition has its good and bad points, more bad than good. The bible says that we are to examine all things at the light of the word and remove all things that are not for the glory of God.
I believe that we have plenty traditional thigns that we do or say without thinking about the implications of it. I got to think about it lately and I must tell you i was floored. |

According to Exodus 22:18 "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live and Deuteronomy "18:10 read "There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch."
Having said that, anything that contradicts the word of God is a sin; tradition, culture, modern age – you can call it anything you like. If it does not conform to the standards of the bible, then it is a sin. My thought |

Some 'christian' families forbid their children to date outside of their tribe and even their ethnic group, is that the will of God or just that of men? Some 'christians' will stick together and shun the company of others because they are not from the same village or did not go to the same school or don't have the same background. These practices are still in the church nowadays, a lot of the things we do have not been renewed by the Word and we are still doing these things thinking that we are right before God when we are not. Whenever the subject for change comes back, there is a wall that's raised to the point where one can easily be ostracized for having a different view of the christian walk. What are we to do? Should we just follow along or are we to take a stand and shame the devil? |
